Wine Sessions - Perrier-Jouët

The third meeting of the new cycle of the Wine Sessions cycle that is dedicated to bubbles is with the French maison Perrier-Jouët.

The story of Perrier-Jouët, one of the most ancient and prestigious maison de Champagne, started in 1811 when Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët got married and founded the maison.

Located in the most symbolic city of the Champagne region, Epernay, the French property extends on a surface of more than 65 hectars which have been classed 99,2% according to A.O.C. Champagne evaluation criteria.

Ideally placed, the best plots are part of the famous Côte des Blancs and they provide the soil for the house’s emblematic cépage Chardonnay, renowned for its finess, lightness, floral and mineral notes.

The plots of Montagne de Reims are for the most part planted with Pinot Noir, ancient cépage which gives the champagne body, freshness and a long cellar-life.

Lastly in the Marne Valley vineyard boasts both Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier; the latter, which owes its name to the white down found beneath its leaves, provides structure while still allowing Chardonnay to dominate the blends.

During two centuries only 7 Chefs de Cave alternated. The last of the dynasty is Hervé Deschamps who cultivates and transmits the unique heritage of the maison, by refining and improving with artisan precision every Cru.
