The second meeting of the new cycle of the Wine Sessions cycle that is dedicated to bubbles is with the French maison Pol Roger.
The company story begins in 1849 when Pol Roger made its first wine trade with a merchant from Aÿ. Pioneer of his generation, Pol oriented his production to Dry Champagne, realising the preferences that the most influential market of that time – Great Britain – would have rewarded.
When its founder died in 1899, the champagne company was already extremely popular, the headquarter moved to Epernay, exports were increasing, the restaurants on the Champs-Elysées adopted Pol Roger regularly and the brand was appreciated even by the Royal Families.
The first world war and Prohibition didn’t stop the company growth and after the second world war the greatest evaluator of this Maison entered the company history: Sir. Winston Churchill. The homonymous Cuvée was dedicated to him in 1975 and it is considered the highest expression of the entire assortment of Pol Roger.
The terroir extends on a surface of 92 hectars and it is recognized as one of the most prestigious oenological entity of the world.
